Gustav Bergmann

Gustav Bergmann (* 4. Mai 1906 in Wien; † 21. April 1987 in Iowa City, USA) war ein österreichischer Wissenschaftstheoretiker.

Das Studium der Mathematik, Rechtswissenschaften und Philosophie schloss er im Jahre 1928 mit einer Promotion zum Thema Beiträge zur metrischen Differentialgeometrie ab. Von 1927 bis 1931 war er regelmäßiger Teilnehmer des Wiener Kreises. Im Schuljahr 1929/30 war er Lehrer an einer Wiener Schule und bis 1936 Privatdozent. Im Jahre 1938 wanderte er in die USA aus. Dort war er 40 Jahre lang Professor für Wissenschaftstheorie an der Universität Iowa.
