Kammuscheln (Pectinidae) sind äußerlich anhand der beiden flügelförmigen Fortsätze rechts und links des Wirbels zu erkennen.

Sie besitzen einen großen Schließmuskel und demzufolge auch nur einen Schließmuskelabdruck.

Gerne werden Schließmuskel und Gonaden der Jakobsmuscheln gegessen.

Der Konzern Shell verwendet eine auf dem Kopf stehende stilisierte Kammmuschel als Firmenlogo.
