where's the 'life'?I fail to see how the other reviewer can say it couldn't be much better though admits that it gives practically NO biographical information!
Lots of pretentious puff about Nietzsche's thought written in a very unNietzschean way. I was gravely disappointed after having enthused over Safranski's ('real') biography of Schopenhauer. Don't buy this if you are interested in reading about Nietzsche's LIFE!!!! it's tantamount to yet another dreary commentary. And do we REALLY need a 'translator's preface'??? Is it SO important to read her thanking her family etc.etc????!!! PLEASE!!! (the translation is no great shakes anyway...)
pretty good book about Nietzsche - couldn't be much betterNot the typical Nietzsche biography - Nietzsches childhood is hardly mentioned - here one finds a descripton of Nietzsches ideas and believes. But it also gives new additional material (for me as a non pro-philosophy reader).
