Der neurotische Tiberius Kneigt, ein Freund des Erzählers, begegnet auf einem Waldspaziergang einem Mädchen mit einem Korb voller Erdbeeren, die sie ihm nicht verkaufen will, ihm aber »einen ganz kleinen Teil derselben« schenkt.
