[509] Berton (Bertong), Henri Montan, Componist, geb. 1767 zu Paris, Lehrer der Composition am Conservatorium daselbst, später Director des Gesangs bei der kaiserl. Oper; schrieb einige 20 Opern, darunter »Montano et Stephanie« und »Aline, reine de Golconde«; st. 1844. Sein Sohn François B., geb. 1784, ebenfalls Componist, schrieb für die komische Oper, st. 1832 an der Cholera.
