[950] Rink, Hinrich, verdienter Grönlandforscher, geb. 26. Aug. 1819 in Kopenhagen, gest. 15. Dez. 1893 in Christiania, studierte Naturwissenschaften, nahm 1845–47 als Mineralog an der Erdumseglung der Fregatte Galathea teil, durchforschte 1848–51 Nordgrönland, war 1857–71 Inspektor von Südgrönland, 187 1–82 Direktor des grönländischen Handels in Kopenhagen und siedelte dann nach Christiania über. Er veröffentlichte: »Die Nikobarischen Inseln« (Kopenh. 1847); »Grönland, geographisk og statistisk beskrevet« (das. 1852–57, 2 Bde.; engl. von Brown, Lond. 1877; deutsch im Auszuge von v. Etzel, Stuttg. 1860); »Eskimoiske Eventyr og Sagn« (Kopenh. 1866, Suppl. 1872; engl., Lond. 1875); »The Eskimo tribes, their distribution and characteristics« (Kopenh. 1887, Suppl. 1891); »Grønlændere og Danske i Grønland« (Christiania 1887).
