[369] Dabney, William Cecil, geb. 4. Juli 1849 in Albemarle co., Va., studierte und promovierte 1868 an der Univ. von Virgina, fungierte eine Zeit lang am Washington Univ. Hosp. in Baltimore, praktizierte darauf in seiner Vaterstadt und siedelte später nach. Charlottesville, Va., über, wo er sich besonders mit neuropathol. Arbeiten beschäftigte. Dann folgte er einem Ruf als Prof. der Geburtshilfe und praktischen Medizin an die Univers. von Virginia und starb zu Charlottesville 20. Aug. 1894. Er publizierte: »Medical chemistry« (mit dem Boylston-Preise gekrönt) – »Nitrite of amyl as an antidote to chloroform« – »Development of connective tissue« – »Extirpation of kidney for renal calculus« – »Physiol. and pathol. effects of excessive soil moisture« – »Chloreate of soda in biliary lithiasis« – »Contribution to the histology of epithelial new formations« – »Disturbances of nutrition consecutive to nerve lesions.«
