[734] Hewitt, William Morse Graily, zu London, geb. zu Badbury, Chiseldon, Wilts. 1828, studierte im University College in London, wurde 1855 Doktor bei dortiger Univ., 1856 Surgical Registrar beim St. Mary's Hosp., 1860 Assistant Lecturer der Geburtshilfe bei demselben, 1859 Physician am British Lying-in Hosp., Physician am Samaritan Hosp., war Honorary Secretary der Obstetrical Society von 1858 bis 64, und seit 1866 Prof. der Geburtshilfe und der Frauenkrankheiten beim University College und Obstetric Physician des Hospitals desselben. H., der 27. August 1893 starb, veröffentlichte u.a.: »The pathology, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of women« (4. edit. 1882) – »The mechanical System of uterine pathology« (1878) – »Nutrition the basis of the treatment of disease« (1867) – »Pathology of hooping cough« (1855) und zahlreiche Journalabhandlungen.
