[1226] Ogston, Alexander, Sohn von Francis O., um 1844 geb., studierte in Aberdeen und 1863, 64 in Wien, Prag und Berlin, wurde 1866 in Aberdeen Doktor, war 1866 bis 73 Assistant Prof. der gerichtl. Med. daselbst, 1868 bis 70 Augenarzt an der dortigen Roy. Infirmary, wo er zuerst Vorlesungen und Demonstrationen über Augenkrankheiten hielt und war 1870 bis 74 Ohrenarzt bei demselben Krankenhause. 1870 wurde er Surgeon, 1874 Acting, war 1880 bis 98 Senior Surgeon bei demselben und hielt seit 1874 klin. Vorträge über Chirurgie. 1882 war er Regius Prof. der Chir. bei genannter Univ. Ausserdem war O. 1868 bis 72 Joint Medical Officer of Health für die Stadt Aberdeen, wurde 1872 Fellow der Med. Soc. von London, 1892 Surgeon Ihrer Maj. der Königin von Schottland und war 1896 Präsident der chir. Sektion der Brit. Med. Association.
