[6] Rum, ein starker Branntwein, welcher entweder aus dem nach der erfolgten ersten Pressung des Zuckerrohres noch abfließenden Safte, meist aber aus den Abgängen des Zuckerrohrs oder Syrups gebrannt wird, wornach sich auch seine Güte bestimmt. Der meiste R. kommt aus Westindien, der beste von Jamaica.
