[26] Long-Island (Langeiländ), Insel am Ausflusse des Hudson, zu dem Staate Newyork gehörig, 44 QM. groß, durch die Straße Narrows von dem kleineren States-Island getrennt, ist wohlangebaut, hat mit diesem 750000 E., ist als Hauptbollwerk Newyorks von großer Wichtigkeit. Hauptstädte sind Brooklyn und Williamsburg. L. heißt auch die nördl. Reihe der Hebriden, s. d.
