[315] Chambers, Thomas King, in London, Med. Dr. von Oxford seit 1846, Honorary Physician des Prinzen von Wales, Consulting Physician bei St. Mary's und beim Lock Hospital, Examinator in der Medizin bei der Universität Oxford hielt 1850 die Goulstonian, 1863 die Lumleyan Lectures und 1871 die Harveyan, Oration und starb 15. August 1889. Er ist der Verfasser folgender Schriften: »Corpulence or excess of fat during pregnancy; a letter to Dr. Lee« (London 1852) – »Digestion and its derangements« (New-York 1856) – »The renewal of life. Lectures chiefly clinical« (London, 4. edit. 1865; Philadelphia 1865 from the 3. Lond. ed.) – »Some affects of the climate of Italy« (1865) – »The indigestions; or, diseases of the digestive organs functionally treated« (2. edit. 1867; Philadelphia 1868) – »A manual of diet in health and disease« (Philadelphia 1875; 2. ed. 1876). Ausserdem die Artikel: »Catalepsy«, »Ecstasy« und »Somnambulism« in Reynold's System of medicine.
